(Please do not send an etransfer to pay for one if it is for a grade 9 student)We have a limited supply of about 10 yearbooks remaining. Anyone else who would like to purchase a yearbook please send an etransfer to   for $25.00. In the memo/note please indicate “Yearbook for ____________” First come, First serve.

As we have entered into the last 6 weeks of the 2019-2020 school year, I wanted to provide an update on a few items:
Home Learning - We will be following the same format  as we have been and continue to work on the foundational learnings through online learning until Friday, June 19. It is important for students to continue to do the best that they can on this learning.  Student work is not graded for students in grades K-9. Teachers may provide students with feedback on their learning. This feedback should help the student improve, however the work is not marked and the final grades will not differ from those indicated on the second Progress Report.
Report Cards - You may remember that Parent Teacher Interviews were held in March, however the Progress reports were not able to be sent home due to technical issues with the SAS program. These report cards (term 2) will be sent home when the student picks up the belongings from their locker (week of June 1). As indicated in a letter from the DELL,  the end of year report will have comments from your child’s teacher.  There will not be an end of year mark. Students will not be retained as a result of COVID-19 and will move to the next grade level. These report cards will be sent home during the week of June 22-26.
SAS - SAS is not and will not be accessible for students / parents K-9.

Student Belongings/Lockers
Beginning May 25th staff may enter schools for essential purposes. We have deemed it essential to help retrieve student belongings. Staff will be working in teams to clean out lockers (main and gym) and gather any other student personal belongings that may have been left in classrooms. During the week of June 1-5 , students will be asked to pick up their personal belongings. Details on what that will look like will be sent out later this week. We have a number of items in our LOST AND FOUND. We will have those items set out during the week that students are picking up their belongings. We will have it set up outside. All social distancing guidelines will need to be followed. Any unclaimed items will be going to goodwill.

Return of items to School
At the time students pick up their belongings they are asked to bring in any textbooks and library books which they may have at home. These books are required for inventory purposes and are not used during online learning. Also, if you have an instrument, a team uniform, or any material borrowed from the school or PSB, please return it at this time. We will not be loaning out instruments for the summer.

Grade 9 closing
Keeping in line with other Intermediate Schools, Hernewood will hold a virtual/online version of our closing to honor the grade 9 students. CPHO guidelines regarding size of gatherings limits our ability to hold an in person closing ceremony for students, staff and guests. We will also include our extra curricular awards that would typically be held in an assembly near year end. * As operational guidelines are put in place for students to enter schools, we will advise of other opportunities for students to visit the school and bring closure to their year. *If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at
